Club Support Manager club visits: March round-up

Each month, our team is out and about, up and down the country, visiting clubs in-person as regularly as possible, alongside their ongoing digital communications with clubs. Here is a round-up of their activity in March - the month included visits to Colchester & Tendring AC; Derby AC; Enfield and Haringey AC/Be Fit track Academy; Sutton Striders; Plympton Harriers; and on the Isle of Man clubs (ManxHarriers, Western AC, Northern AC, Manx Fell Runners, Veteran AC).

Team selected for Paris Para Grand Prix

The Paris Para Grand Prix is a pinnacle event on the World Para calendar and England Athletics is delighted to be sending a team for the second year running. The team features athletes with potential to represent Team England at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow next year as well as athletes who will be vying for selection to the World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi later this year. Additionally, England Athletics are supporting para athletes coming through the Youth Talent Programme as part of this team as it provides a fantastic opportunity for learning as part of an international team.

County grant applications open

England Athletics is delighted to confirm that county associations will receive funding for a 12th consecutive year, as part of the organisation’s commitment to grassroots athletics.  Associations can apply for grants of up to £500 to improve their track and field championships, while England Athletics’ continuing investment programme will also provide grants to a number of leagues, area associations and the English Schools' AA across the coming season.

Support and benefits for clubs and parents registering U11 athletes 

Whilst it is not compulsory for under 11s to register to compete, England Athletics is offering support and benefits to each club who chooses to register under 11s. England Athletics is committed to helping clubs increase the number of volunteers available to support young athletes in getting involved with their club.

Young official Freya Webb talks about her officiating journey

Freya Webb is a club athlete turned official, having qualified in a number of disciplines is now a Level 3 field judge. In February this year Freya officiated at the UKA National Indoor Championships in Birmingham for her first national selection event. As is common for a first appointment, Freya was an athlete steward.
