Curly’s funetics: Building confidence, community and a love for movement in Scunthorpe

Success in athletics goes far beyond the medals, it can be as simple as children growing in confidence, reaching a goal or feeling part of the athletics community. We recently caught up with Nickie and David who, having recognised this, launched funetics in Scunthorpe two years ago and the impact of their sessions is immeasurable.

England team finish third at Trofeo Nasego World Cup Mountain Race. The Nasego World Cup weekend involved two races, on the Saturday it was the Vertical Nasego which climbs 1000m over a distance of 4.2km, the following day was the classic Trofeo Nasego over 21.5km with 1330m of ascent, this was an up and down race.

What began as a way to stay involved during recovery has quickly developed into a passion for officiating, with Alice recently achieving her Level 2 qualifications as both a Starter and Starter's Assistant.

Developing the next generation of officials with Loughborough University

England Athletics and Loughborough University have partnered to deliver an exciting new initiative, offering a series of officiating courses for students across the university campus. Through the Track Judge, Field Judge and Photo Finish programmes, more than a dozen students have gained nationally recognised training and valuable practical experience.
