The Regional Club Forums are a relaxed and engaging get-together for athletics and running clubs - a chance to connect, share ideas, and gain valuable insights. These forums provide an opportunity for clubs to network with each other and engage directly with the England Athletics Club Support Team and Regional Councils.

England Marathon Championships move to Manchester

This April 36,000 runners are expected to hit the streets of the north west to take on the sold-out Adidas Manchester Marathon. For the first time, we’re delighted to be partnering with race organisers ASO UK to host our England Marathon Championships at this popular event in 2025, offering a unique opportunity for runners of all abilities.

Making a difference in local communities: Club Improvement Fund re-opens

The Club Improvement Fund has reopened, welcoming applications from clubs across the country who have achieved their Club Standard 6 (safeguarding), and will have full Club Standards on receipt of the funding. There is a range of different ways that clubs can use the funding to improve their club, whether that be through facility needs, coaching courses or digital upgrades. We caught up with a couple of clubs to see what impact the Club Improvement Fund has made to them.

There are just 12 active athletics volunteers recorded on our membership database who are aged over 95. Ernie Cripps is one of them. Ernie doesn’t like a fuss, so England Athletics CEO Chris Jones, Chair of East Midlands Regional Council Jane Pidgeon, and Club Support Manager Heidi Bradley attended under the guise of an ordinary club engagement visit.

Two worlds colliding: Creating inspiring running opportunities for sports fans

Last month, RunTogether welcomed partner, Matchroom, as a new RunTogether group and supported their very first Fight Day 5k event ahead of the Catterall vs. Barboza boxing match on 15 February. With 150 runners in attendance, the event was a huge success for all involved and received full praise from Matchroom Chairman and CEO, Eddie Hearn and Frank Smith. RunTogether and Matchroom are excited to continue delivering pre-match events to the Matchroom community to provide an inspiring opportunity for participants of all abilities.

Jo Pavey had an inspiring athletics career representing Team GB at five Olympic Games, from Sydney 2000 to Rio 2016 and Team England at three Commonwealth Games, achieving two medals. Beyond her athletics prowess, she’s a dedicated mother of two and loves to get active with her family.
